Brittany + Chris | Oak Meadow Event Center | Ohatchee, AL

What’s your style? More dark and moody, or do you like white and bright? If you’re a fan of the latter, you’re going to want to see this!! Every little bit of Brittany and Chris’ (“Rosey”) wedding day went together so well…I mean just LOOK AT IT! Stunning, am I right?! (And we haven’t even started talking about that amazing DRESS!!!)

Brittany’s dress from Diane’s Formal Affair was definitely one of my favorites…and it had a CAPE. A long, glittery, wintery (is that a word?) cape with complete Elsa vibes that she pulled out for the reception. OBSESSED. I’ve got to say, this totally changed my viewpoint on winter weddings! If you have a winter wedding, you need to channel your inner Elsa, and you need a cape. Trust me. It’s magical.

This was also our first time traveling to Ohatchee, AL. It was a bit of a drive from home - about 2 hours from Huntsville - but of course we were happy to do it, especially when we saw this venue! It was such a DREAM. (And the white walls and ceiling make this photographer very happy!) It was modern with touches of rustic, with concrete floor and shiplap everywhere. (Any Joanna Gaines fans out there?! ME ME ME!! #shiplap)

I love venues like this one, bright and beautiful for portraits indoors, and surrounded by grass and woods for plenty of portrait options outdoors as well. Here are a few couples portraits, and some of the wedding party as well!

We were hoping for a pretty sunset for pictures too, but it was a cloudy day, with drizzling rain every so often. Thankfully it all cleared up by ceremony time!

The ceremony was in front of Oak Meadow’s big beautiful fireplace. Their florist and coordinator (Carrie Mashburn) added greenery around the mantel and kept the clean and simple look the fireplace provided.

After the ceremony, the cocktail hour began with a bar, complete with a cool neon sign of the couple’s new name, and cheese and fruit appetizers for the guests. Plus a hot chocolate bar for the kids!! So cute!

The reception began with dinner from Rusty’s BBQ, and then plenty of dancing and celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs.!

And can we talk about THESE CAKES?! A cake with macaroons?! AND a cake with chocolate covered strawberries?! My sweet tooth cannot even handle these pictures. (Cakes by Desiree Calloway)

Rosey and Brittany, we absolutely loved spending this beautiful day with you both. Your wedding day was picture perfect, and we are so thankful you had us there to capture all these memories. Congratulations!!!!!

Robby + Jonathon | BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft | Birmingham, AL

To sum up Robby and Jonathon’s wedding, here was their schedule: Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, RAGE, Exit. This was probably the biggest party of a reception we’ve seen to date…we were a little nervous the floor was going to fall in from so many people jumping and dancing! BUT, the venue (BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft), thankfully, held together well, and everyone - with glowsticks in hand - danced the night away.

I met Jonathon and Robby in college about ten years ago (feeling old right now) at Auburn. They were together way back when we met, and they finally tied the knot this year! About time, right?!! I was so excited to hear from Robby about their engagement and wedding plans, and so honored that they had me photograph it all.

We began the day meeting the couple at their venue, BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft in downtown Birmingham. We took some shots of them getting into their tuxes (Imperial Formal Wear, Birmingham) and some last minute touch ups, and their friends and family arrived shortly after. They have a big group of close friends, which were literally labeled on their shot list as “Squad”. And they all knew exactly who was in the squad. I just thought that was so great!!

After that we went around downtown Birmingham for couples portraits. Luckily, this venue is optimally located next to THE best photo spots in downtown Birmingham: *the* bridge and *the* parking garage. If you’re a photographer, or follow many photographers on social media, or heck, if you’ve had a professional session in downtown Birmingham, you know exactly where I’m talking about. LOL!

After couples portraits, we shot some of the details and prepared for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The ceremony was upstairs in the loft of BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft, with greenery styled by Vera Flora over the altar location, and dimly lit cafe lights strung above the guests. It was intimate and romantic, with upbeat, trendy music with a classical twist playing in the background (DJ Hypnoteyes). The grooms’ nieces were the cutest flower girls, with the grooms following behind.

After the ceremony, there were drinks served by B&B Beverage Management (Birmingham) along with a giant charcuterie board by Savoie Catering at the cocktail hour. After a few drinks and socializing time for guests, the grooms were announced and cut their cake (Magic Muffins Birmingham).

Shortly after the party started, and this crowd definitely knew how to party! The dancing started literally immediately - I think some people didn’t even sit down once! It was such a great time, and it was so clear that all of their friends and family had been long awaiting this marriage and were ready to CELEBRATE these two!

Robby and Jonathon were so laid back and easy going, and were so focused on the vows and the celebration afterward. They had the right frame of mind for their wedding day, and it was PERFECT. I couldn’t have picked a better day, and every detail was seamless! Robby and Jonathon, we had so much fun at your wedding, and we are so, SO happy you chose us to spend it with!

Anna + Ken | Weeden House | Huntsville, AL

Picture this: A historic home in the heart of downtown Huntsville, AL, with a mossy brick patio and green space, lit by both a full moon and romantic cafe lights overhead. There is a large circle of greenery and white tablecloths centered with large, dramatic blooms.  Long, family style tables lined with greenery and floating candles, and an entire charcuterie table waiting for you. This describes Anna and Ken’s amazing wedding day at The Weeden House.

The day began at The Embassy Suites, where Anna and her girls were enjoying some Truly drinks and getting ready for the big day. The room was full of loud laughter and fun energy, and it was clear that everyone was ready to celebrate this sweet couple. After Anna’s mom helped her into her dress, Anna had a few sweet pictures with her closest friends and family there with her, and then promptly jumped on the bed with her flower girls! (#coolestbrideever am I right?!)

Then we were ready to head to The Weeden House for her first look with Ken! Anna loved the mossy brick and the big white wall at the venue, so we focused a lot of our photos here.

After some chatting and a lot of hugs, we jumped into couples portraits.

We loved the energy at Anna and Ken’s wedding. Their friends and family were clearly so excited, ready to party, and all-in for their friends. Not to mention, the MOST friendly and welcoming group. Their wedding party was so fun to be around!

Their ceremony was in front of this whimsical circle of greenery Anna’s mom created. Anna walked down this bohemian style rug as the aisle, surrounded by family and friends in a beautiful but laid-back style ceremony. (Read: If I could re-do my wedding, I’d SO do this!)

The reception was one big party, lasting well into the night with a busy dance floor. There was delicious food, the best donuts and cupcakes EVER, drinks for all, and nothing but smiles.

Congratulations Anna and Kenneth! Not only are we thankful we got to be a part of your big day, we had so much fun too!!!
