The Rowe’s | Newborn Lifestyle | Madison, AL

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I have lots of favorite things… dogs, pajamas, guacamole, cookie dough, house plants… the list goes on. The same goes for photos - I LOVE WEDDINGS. Really, I do. I love relationship building, romance, and meeting families. BUT, I also LOVE seeing the excitement and joy of new parents. I mostly love loving on new mamas, because man oh man, I know it is hard.

So even though every photographer ever says to stick to a certain niche, that’s why I do more than JUST weddings and couples.

There’s nothing like coming into a home where a new mama and dada are learning a new routine; their new lifestyle. It’s a beautiful thing to see, and I think newborn lifestyle sessions allow you to freeze time in the most candid way.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Rowe’s, including Katie’s mom, to take pictures and celebrate their new daughter. We spent a lot of time beforehand just chatting, looking at the new nursery and baby accessories, and outfits. LOVE BABY OUTFITS

Here are a few to share from our newborn lifestyle session with the Rowe’s. Congratulations!!!

Brittany + Ben | Engagements | Birmingham, AL

It’s fine. I’m fine. Just totally 100% obsessed. That’s okay, right?

I mean LOOK AT THEM.

Brittany and Ben are getting married in downtown Birmingham this October, at this very church:

Pretty cool that we got to take some of their engagements where we’ll be taking their wedding photos, huh? This little historic gem sits in the middle of Birmingham’s busy downtown streets and was unexpected and stood out from its urban background.

So, since they’re getting married in Birmingham, of course we had to have a very-Birmingham-inspired engagement session!

We started at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, where Spring had sprung, at least for that little window of warmth we had last month. I think my favorites from the whole shoot were by this perfectly pink tree, so I’ll start with those.

We found some other rock walls, gazebos, and walkways too:

Then we headed downtown - and almost missed the sun setting over the skyline because I was so obsessed with the above mentioned pink tree. (typical, right?)

Once the sun set behind the buildings, we ran over to get some pictures in front of the famous Birmingham sign. I guess we shouldn’t have been shocked that there was literally a LINE to take pictures in front of this wall! We had to watch people taking quite a few selfies before it was our turn…..

Brittany and Ben, I had so much fun wandering around Birmingham with you guys, and I am SO grateful I get to be the one to photograph your wedding, too!!!

Ellie Paige’s Gender Reveal | Huntsville, AL

When our dear friends Rob and Lindsay told us they were expecting, we were so excited for them! (AND gaining another mama friend has me over the moon excited!!!)

Lindsay had a fabulous idea to announce both their pregnancy and the gender of their new baby in a way that I had never heard before - a photo session in the baby’s future nursery!!!

Lindsey had all the cutest props: a couple of wooden sign, some flowers, baby shoes, and ultrasound pictures. Lindsay’s props, mixed with how clearly giddy she and Rob were, and the casual, at-home feeling of this session, definitely made the shoot ADORABLE.

Bonus cute points: Their puppy Millie had some pictures to herself!

A gender reveal photo session was such a cute idea; I wish I had thought of doing the same when I was pregnant! These are so fun that I hope to do so many more of these! And of course, I absolutely cannot wait for sweet Ellie Paige to make her arrival so I can photograph this little family for years to come.

We love you, Lindsay, Rob, and Ellie [and Millie]!
