Ashley + Eric | Engagements | Yellowhammer Brewing

Ashley and Eric met through beer. Eric was a server when Ashley and a friend went out to eat one night, and then saw Eric again later - meant to be! :-) Ever since, they’ve both shared a love of craft beer and are incorporating that love by getting married at Yellowhammer Brewing in Huntsville. To say I am SO excited for this wedding is an understatement!

Yellowhammer Brewery has a new event space in the back, with a beer garden and patio. Big windows inside the venue allow you to see the beer being brewed inside.

Thanks to this welcoming brewery, we were able to go inside to explore and take some really cool pictures!

And of course, they had to get a beer. You’d be surprised (or maybe not so much) how many of my clients tell me they had a beer or 2 before their engagement session because they don’t like taking pictures! Luckily, they all end up saying it was actually a really fun experience by the end of their session! But, hey, any excuse for a happy hour, am I right?! :-P

After exploring Yellowhammer, we headed downtown for some fun. Ashley is a bit of a history buff and told me some cool facts about a couple of the buildings downtown.

Then we caught a beautiful sunset downtown! I love the way Huntsville’s streets glow!!

Looking forward to the big day, Ashley and Eric!!!!

Engagement Favorites of 2017!

2017 was our busiest, most blessed year yet, both professionally and personally! We had our most weddings we’ve ever had, and focused on growing our photography presence locally in North Alabama, especially in Huntsville. I am SO excited to see what 2018 will bring both as we photograph families and weddings here in Huntsville, in Birmingham, and further!

Did 2017 absolutely FLY BY for anyone else?! I don’t know if it was the blur that comes with having a new baby while growing a small business, but what a big, great, FAST year it was!

As I’m looking through these thousands of images from 2017, both of my family and clients, I am so happy, so proud, and so, so thankful. I am so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to meet so many beautiful families and couples, and all the love that has grown in the past year.

SO, without further babbling about how much I loved 2017, here are a few of my favorite engagements from my favorite year. What do you think?

Ashley + Eric’s engagements in Yellowhammer Brewery and downtown Huntsville:

Who could resist these bright smiles from Christina + Jordan?! We took these in the Jones Valley area of Huntsville.

Going to reuse my good pun here (because I don’t get many of them)… Jordan + Zach incorporated their love of rock climbing to bring their engagement photos…to the next level! (HA!) They took their shoot…to greater heights…! (Yes, I’ll stick to photography, not comedy.) Here’s a few from their engagement session at Rainbow Mountain in Madison:

Ok, and I LOVED Parker and Corey’s engagement session in the historic downtown Huntsville Twickenham District because 1) they are hilarious and 2) I learned so much about Huntsville! Being a firefighter, Corey knew his way around the back roads and neighborhoods, and being Huntsville natives, they clued me in on some cool facts about Huntsville’s history!

Speaking of Huntsville natives, Paige and Josh’s engagement session were about as “Huntsville” as you can get! The weather absolutely would NOT cooperate with us on our twice reschedule shoot, so most of this one we spent waiting out the rain. BUT, it was so worth it when we got this view!

Speaking of downtown Huntsville, one of the streets I discovered on my shoot with Parker and Corey, I used for my next session with Mallory and Ryan and LOVED it! Huntsville, you are an engagement and wedding photographer’s dream.

I also got to spend some time with the, now Mr. and Mrs. Harris! These two met me in Huntsville (they live and were wed in Arab!) and brought their love of Disney into their session.

Something else that was trending in 2017, if you haven’t noticed: DOGS!!!! Y’all know I was in heaven. Here’s a favorite from Linsey’s engagement session in Birmingham:

And, my last engagement session of the year was right before Christmas, and it is DEFINITELY one of my favorites. Just look at this sweet, beautiful couple! Andy and Megan’s session was at The Ledges in Huntsville.

These are just a FEW of my favorites from my favorite year yet! I am so, so happy I got to meet each and every one of you, and dozens more… Cheers to 2018, my friends!!!

HARRIS WEDDING | THE OLD GREENHOUSE ARAB

Whitney and Corey joined a small group, completely unaware that it was where they would find their “happily ever after”! After starting to get to know each other, turns out they had a lot in common - not only do they both love all things Disney, but they were also neighbors! Talk about fate, right?

I had the pleasure of joining them on their own magical day at The Old Greenhouse in Corey’s hometown of Arab, Alabama. Whitney loves rustic: brick walls, old wood, and barns, and her venue and details showed it!

After capturing the details and “getting ready” shots, Whitney had a sweet first look with her dad.

(Sorry Whitney, I can’t resist a good teary-eyed picture!)

BUT, I’ve got to say… the first look with her groom is probably my favorite picture from this wedding! That face!!! So sweet. :-)

After couples portraits, we spent some time with the wedding party. Whitney is a special education teacher, and I love that two of her students were in the wedding party as well!

The ceremony was inside The Old Greenhouse, with a set of old wooden doors, stained cement floors, and wooden walls: a picture of rustic perfection! Dim cafe lights twinkled overhead (photographers read: challenging lighting, but I love a good challenge!). The ceremony was short and sweet, and Whitney and Corey’s parents all came together to pray over their children before they were wed.

As we moved into the reception to the first dances, Corey’s sister cut into the Mother/Son dance for a minute with her brother!

The night was full of toasts, games, and good food! It was obvious that Corey and Whitney were surrounded by people who love them dearly.

Congrats to the newest Mr. and Mrs. Harris! Their day was fit for the best Disney prince and princess! (And of course their honeymoon was Disney World!!)
