Robby + Jonathon | BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft | Birmingham, AL

To sum up Robby and Jonathon’s wedding, here was their schedule: Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, RAGE, Exit. This was probably the biggest party of a reception we’ve seen to date…we were a little nervous the floor was going to fall in from so many people jumping and dancing! BUT, the venue (BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft), thankfully, held together well, and everyone - with glowsticks in hand - danced the night away.

I met Jonathon and Robby in college about ten years ago (feeling old right now) at Auburn. They were together way back when we met, and they finally tied the knot this year! About time, right?!! I was so excited to hear from Robby about their engagement and wedding plans, and so honored that they had me photograph it all.

We began the day meeting the couple at their venue, BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft in downtown Birmingham. We took some shots of them getting into their tuxes (Imperial Formal Wear, Birmingham) and some last minute touch ups, and their friends and family arrived shortly after. They have a big group of close friends, which were literally labeled on their shot list as “Squad”. And they all knew exactly who was in the squad. I just thought that was so great!!

After that we went around downtown Birmingham for couples portraits. Luckily, this venue is optimally located next to THE best photo spots in downtown Birmingham: *the* bridge and *the* parking garage. If you’re a photographer, or follow many photographers on social media, or heck, if you’ve had a professional session in downtown Birmingham, you know exactly where I’m talking about. LOL!

After couples portraits, we shot some of the details and prepared for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The ceremony was upstairs in the loft of BridgeStreet Gallery and Loft, with greenery styled by Vera Flora over the altar location, and dimly lit cafe lights strung above the guests. It was intimate and romantic, with upbeat, trendy music with a classical twist playing in the background (DJ Hypnoteyes). The grooms’ nieces were the cutest flower girls, with the grooms following behind.

After the ceremony, there were drinks served by B&B Beverage Management (Birmingham) along with a giant charcuterie board by Savoie Catering at the cocktail hour. After a few drinks and socializing time for guests, the grooms were announced and cut their cake (Magic Muffins Birmingham).

Shortly after the party started, and this crowd definitely knew how to party! The dancing started literally immediately - I think some people didn’t even sit down once! It was such a great time, and it was so clear that all of their friends and family had been long awaiting this marriage and were ready to CELEBRATE these two!

Robby and Jonathon were so laid back and easy going, and were so focused on the vows and the celebration afterward. They had the right frame of mind for their wedding day, and it was PERFECT. I couldn’t have picked a better day, and every detail was seamless! Robby and Jonathon, we had so much fun at your wedding, and we are so, SO happy you chose us to spend it with!
